Amsterdam based producer, musician and composer Phantom Wizard releases his second EP ‘Resurrection’.
After the release of his debut EP ‘Conscious’ in 2021, Phantom
Wizard will release his second offering ‘Resurrection’ digitally and on vinyl.
‘This EP is the sonification of a series of visions and dreams that occurred during a transformative period in my life. During this time, assisted by plant medicine, I opened myself up to messages from higher realms that I had always heard, but only now truly understood. My newfound devotion and humility inspired me to write new music. The result is a story of symbolic death, followed by a desire to free the soul.’
The entire EP was recorded at Phantom Wizard’s home studio in Amsterdam. In resonance with the deeply personal nature of the project, he dove deep into all facets of birthing the music: from the different instrumentation to the production, the artwork and the release - all but the mastering was done independently and in-house.
Musically, Phantom Wizard takes inspiration from his cultural roots: we hear indigenous Surinamese instrumentation such as flute, mixed with other elements from his cultural background such as West-African percussion. The amalgamation of acoustic and electronic sounds in combination with an eclectic composition style results in a project that does not fit into a box but still feels recognizable.
